Whether you were fresh out of school or had been practicing for years, the November education in West Lafayette offered something new. Diane Williamson taught a 12 hour continuing education course on massage cupping. Many of the attendees weren't sure what to expect from the class, but were very pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of uses for massage cupping. Perhaps the most dramatic results came from the face lift or the scar work, but myofascial work and lymph drainage were also demonstrated.
The generous Indiana therapists also stepped up to raise $150 for the Lyn Treece Boys and Girls club. We were privileged to have Kip Treece, Lyn's son, present to tell us a little about the club. It was the combined efforts of several business persons in the area that brought the club to life back in the 1970's to benefit the low income children in the Lafayette area. The club focuses on respect and responsibility, offering help with homework as well as many life skills. Many of the former members of the Lyn Treece boys and Girls Club are now widely known and respected members of the community.
AMTA Indiana education opportunities offer valuable time to network with other therapists as well as receive continuing education hours. The AMTA Indiana Chapter Store has a wide variety of items for sale at each event as well. We look forward to seeing you at our next educational weekend on April 10th and 11th, 2010 in Plainfield, Indiana.
We are also conducting one day educational workshops. If you have an idea or a location in which to host one in your area, please contact Dean at dean.berry@amtaindiana.org
