When
you become an advocate for your profession by getting involved in
chapter legislative activities, you lend your expertise to our elected
officials so they can make informed decisions that impact your life as a
massage therapist. More importantly, you educate public-policymakers so
they can make informed decisions that impact you and your clients.
Consumer protection is one of the most important aspects of state
regulation. When you give your time to educate a legislator, you take an
action that helps your profession and your clients. Such as making sure
that consumers get massage therapy from educated, trained and ethical
practitioners.
Your Indiana Chapter is looking for members to
volunteer to contact their State Legislators in a coordinated effort to
educate them on the profession in our State. If you are available and
interested in this effort, please register at the provided link. If you
are not certain of your State Senator or Representative, you may find it
at www.in.gov/legislators. This status may change after elections in Nov. 2010.
We encourage you to contact your legislator and inform them of your concern about this situation, and ask them to support consumer protection by supporting clarification of these issues. To find your legislator, please go to http://district.iga.in.gov/DistrictLookup/. Just a short polite note from a constituent can be very effective. If you wish to call and leave a message, the Senate phone is 800-382-9467, and the House is 800-382-9842. Some seats will be changing after this November election.
If you wish to be contacted this session about assisting with Government Relations, please register here.
This effort will be important from Jan-April 2011 and should not take much of your time.
